Gardening

My dad, Stan, and I are working on getting a garden started. Last week my dad was off work, so we made a raised garden bed in my back yard. We also attended a 2 day class offered here in Fayette county about gardening. I am excited to start planting and growing some good veggies. We will have to wait a while for most of it, but I am excited that I now have a garden plot in my backyard! I am sure I will blog more about this as we work on it more.

We bought a small tiller and this is our plot after we tilled up the grass and raked it all out. Note all the lovely red clay.
We constructed our box which took a few hours. We had a little difficulty making sure it was all level. Then we called Concrete Supply over in Fayetteville and ordered 5 tons of their really good top soil. After covering the clay with newspaper and cardboard we filled it with our soil. Now we should be ready to go.
This box is 8'x12'.
