Fun Weekend with Amy!

I got back last night from a weekend away with my sister, Amy. Stan watched the kiddos while Amy and I went down to Savannah and Hilton Head for 3 nights. We left Thursday. That night we went down to River street and walked around. Friday was our busy day. We scheduled a architectural walking tour of Savannah. This is me and Amy waiting for our tour guide to show up.
It was the most beautiful morning. It was a perfect day to walk around Savannah and look at all the beautiful homes and learn about the history. These are a few of the homes on our tour. This home was an example of the federal style This next home is the very famous Owens-Thomas house. It is amazing. After our walking tour, we went back and did a tour of this home. It made me want to go back in time just to see the people and homes in that time.
Later we went to Forsyth park. It is such a pretty park that spans several city blocks. The trees are gorgeous.
The fountain in the park is so pretty.
After the park, we went back and relaxed a bit at our hotel. That night we went out to dinner and went on a haunted trolley tour. We were so beat by the end of the day that we were having a hard time staying awake on the trolley tour.
Saturday morning we went back down to River street and finished seeing the shops that we did not get to see Thursday night. Then we headed for Hilton Head, SC. We arrived at out hotel and got settled and took a walk down to the beach. It was pretty chilly and overcast and the water was freezing, which only our toes experienced. Here are some pictures of our few minutes spent at the beach.

Later, we explored Hilton Head. We went to a very nice dinner at this place that was also an art studio. Since the rain had started coming down pretty hard, we decided to rent a couple of movies to watch back at the hotel. Amy has a lot to catch up on after being gone for 18 months. On Sunday, we found a branch there and went to church. Amy was very excited when she realized the amount of Spanish speaking members in the branch (that was more the size of a ward) and was excited to go to the Spanish class. After church, we headed home. We got several calls from home warning us about snow. We had not had any snow on our trip, but expected to run into some on our way home. About 20 miles outside of Macon the snow started. A little north of Macon the snow began to accumulate on the interstate causing the traffic to move pretty slow. It was fun to see the snow and Amy was so happy to see it since she has not seen hardly any precipitation her whole mission. She played Christmas music on my ipod and was having a blast. Here is a picture from our drive home and Amy who was very excited to see the snow.

How fun!!! I'm so jealous...I'm not going to get to go to Hilton Head Island this year :c(. It's one of my FAVORITE places to go on vacation. Looks like you guys had an absolute blast.

Looks like a fabulous time. I would love to be able to do a trip like that with my sister. Good for you. You've got such an awesome family, including Stan for watching the little ones for you so that you could play.
