The Garden

Our garden has recently undergone a makeover. Our other plants were overgrown and crowded. They had pretty much produced all they were going to, so my dad ripped them up and did some more planting. We left the tomato, cucumber, pumpkin, and cantaloupe plants. We added more tomatoes, eggplant, and lots of pole beans. My dad is quite the resourceful and creative guy. He stopped on the side of the road one day and cut down a bunch of bamboo. With the bamboo he made a couple of structures for the beans to climb, which you can see has already started to work.

You can also see where there is a large dirt spot to the left of our garden. We were having an erosion problem where the rain was washing out a lot of dirt behind our retaining wall. My dad, once again, dug a ditch and laid some pipes so that our rain was redirected from our down spouts to a lower point. He also put a bunch of gravel and rocks to fill in our retaining wall. He is quite the handy guy.
