For Your Benefit

I am what many people would call thrifty. And when you are thrifty and have gray hairs, you sometimes just grab some hair color at the store to cover those grays. I have done this many a time. I am pretty much a professional with 'at home' hair color. Well, my hair was growing out from some cute highlights (from when I had a moment of being willing to spend more than $8 on hair color) and my grays were coming in. Well, since summer is over, I figured I would color my hair back to my regular brunette. I grabbed the brand I normally do, but the box looked like it had been re-done or something and it came with a free shampoo sample on the front. I came home, put it in my hair for the regular 1/2 hour, but got a little distracted and it ended up sitting for 40 minutes. Before I ran upstairs to wash it out, I said "My hair is probably black by now"..but not really thinking it would be Well, I looked in the mirror and was shocked by how dark it was. I washed it out and, yep, it was as close to black as my hair has ever been. I was not happy...but I didn't cry either. I don't get too upset over these things. Then before I went to bed that night, I grabbed the box out of the trash and saw that this was supposed to be a 10 minute formula. It was on the 4x's as long as it should have been. Also, it is supposed to come out after 28 washes. I don't know if it will all wash out, but there is hope. I didn't see this because this info was blocked by that free sample on the front...and because I was too impatient to read the instructions for something I could do in my sleep. Here's the before and after. I am trying really hard in the second picture to look like I didn't just wake up...but I had..and it shows. Oh well. -- So the lesson for you here (bc I have already learned it for myself) is that it is probably wise to read the instructions. My hair is a lot cuter in the first pic... and not so cute now. I don't think that it is horrible, but I am far from in love with it. Shrug.
