Salt and Pepper
My son, Jake, loves noodles with salt and pepper. He will eat a bowl halfway and ask for more salt and pepper bc he loves the stuff. Today Jake wanted more salt and pepper on his noodles. I asked him to bring the salt and pepper over and a few minutes later I realized that he had just added it himself. There was a mound of it in his bowl. I refused to let him eat it. I rinsed the bowl and his noodles and added more salt and pepper. He then commenced to throw a fit. I couldn't figure out what his problem was, bc he kept telling me that I was supposed to add salt and pepper, which I had. Well, it took me a few minutes, but I realized that he was upset bc I put the pepper on before the salt and it is supposed to be "salt and pepper" not "pepper and salt". Then I went back, added a dash of salt THEN pepper and he was happy. - Will there be a day when I don't have to deal with such irrational behavior??? This kind of stuff wears me out.

I feel your tiredness. At a family reunion this weekend, I went to put ketchup on Henry's hot dog, and then remembered that he likes it done a certain way. To avoid him throwing a fit in front of the whole family, I sought him out for instructions... Geez. Sounds pathetic, but I bet we aren't the only mothers to deal with this kind of behavior from our 5-year-old boys!
I'm with Jake on this one.
Ha! have I mentioned lately how much I love jake jake! he is so funny. Send him out here. I'll make him all the noodles with salt and pepper he wants!
