My Proud Moment
Those of you who know me well, know that I am a yardsale addict. Well, this past weekend my friend Amber came to visit. Instead of us getting up and running (and preparing for my 1/2 marathon) as planned, we decided to go yarsaling. We went to one yardsale where the people were selling a Hoover carpet cleaner for $3. It had only been used a couple times and was still in great condition. I thought nothing of it until Amber suggested that I buy it and resell it. She told me how she had recently sold her mom's carpet cleaner and had a ton of people calling for it. I ended up paying $2.50 (I have no shame, plus they would have taken $2) and listing it on Craigslist. Well, today a lady came and bought it for a whopping $55. I think that is was like a 2200% mark-up. Pretty good return. I think I might invest more in yard-saling. Also, of note, I bought 4 chairs for my breakfast room table for $5 a piece. Our old ones were falling apart and these new ones match perfectly and are much sturdier than the ones we had. Possibly my most successful yard-saling adventure ever!

And I thought I was an accomplished deal finder! Kudos, Laura, kudos. I keep telling Elizabeth we should go yard-sale shopping.
So, is there a small home-based business in your future?
Sorry, that was me, not Elizabeth...
Hey, when and where is the next game night?
Very impressive! Matt thinks so, too. There will be tons of yard/garage sales here once the weather warms up, and now I'll be looking with an eye towards reselling on Craigslist. Thanks for the tip, Laura!
I gotta go with you next time. I'm afraid to bargain.
So, not to have to do a similar post, I will add a comment on this one. This past Saturday I went and bargained a $15 TV down to $10. I put it on Craigslist and a lady came and bought it from me that night. I sold it for $50. When I brought it home, Stan did not think that I would be able to sell it. He thought no one would buy a TV off of Craigslist. Anyhow, I had 3 inqueries and sold it the same day for the whole asking price, which I thought was a ltitle high myself. So, I made a profit of over $90 on 2 items.
NO WAY! AWESOME FIND!! Now you're starting to sound like Harry. He was always garage saling on Saturday mornings--that is how we got our portable basketball hoop ($5). Now, he's graduated to the computer and Black Friday. Harry and Brian Clark buy and sell on Black Friday like nobody's business. It's scary. Now, when you start buying things on Black Friday and reselling them on Ebay, I'm going to start a support group for Stan, Lori Clark, and myself--Spouses of Ebayers :c).
I bow down to you. You are the queen of good deals!!!
