My Quirky Kid

We have had a blast spending the last 6 days down in Florida. We have all loved the beach...all of us except Jake, that is. Jake is a pretty easy going kid, but something happens to him when he is on the beach. Well, you can't even really get him on the beach because he has an extremely negative reaction to sand. Jake spent the time curled up on my lap refusing to even let his feet touch the sand. He has been to the beach before and did not like the sand at first, but he adjusted and ended up loving it. Well, after all this time, he hated it the last day as much as he did the first. The next 2 shots show just how much he did not want to have any contact with the sand. I guess its a texture thing. (Kate, on the other hand, loved the sand. She would get covered head to toe and think nothing of it. She was such a little beach baby.)

At least he loved the pool. I just have to put him in full body armor in order for him to have the freedom that he demands. One day he was holding a super soaker dressed like this and looked like some big action hero...or like he has a compeletely over-protective mother who fears that he is so independent that if she does not put 20 floatation devices on him that he will end up at the bottom of the pool.

So, without our stroller, anytime we wanted to walk down the beach we ended up carrying both the kids. Kate who can't walk and Jake who refuses to. Maybe they'll do better next year. We still had a wonderful time and are sad to leave.

So Jake will jump in the pool without any fear, but sand freaks him out?

That only makes sense to people with boys of their own!

Those are my two favorite Jakey stories ever. What a cutie cutie pie!
