Jake is almost 3 1/2 and should probably be further along in the potty training process than he is. I deliberately wanted to wait a few months after he turned 3 in hopes that I could also work with Kate at the same time (since girls supposedly learn earlier than boys). We have tried to get Jake to use the potty, but have not had success with having him actually go. We have been using a smaller seat that sits on our regular toilet, but tonight at Wal-Mart I bought a small potty. I figured if Jake could watch TV, he would have more patience with sitting longer. When I brought it home, Jake was very excited about it. We gave him a couple of sippy cups and after sitting there for quite some time, Jake stood up and told me that he had gone. I looked and sure enough, he had!! We were so excited. We did a dance, high fived, and gave him a kit-kat as a reward. We really do not want to have 3 kids in diapers and hope to have Jake totally potty trained before baby #3 gets here. Hopefully, Kate will be working on getting there as well. Anyhow, we were very excited about tonight's breakthrough and hope the road ahead is not too difficult.
This is just a fun picture of Jake in our big basket where we keep our throw blankets. He likes to lay in it and pretend to sleep.

Here's to wishing you major luck in this process. It has literally brought me to tears on SEVERAL occasions. We started Drew a month after he turned three and the peeing he got down within a few weeks. It's the other one I don't want to talk about! :)
We're right there with you in the potty process with Henry. I decided a few weeks ago that I wasn't going to buy anymore diapers or pull-ups. Sometimes he uses the potty 100% in a day, and sometimes 25%. I wish you the best of luck with both Jake & Kate!
One of Jake's friends is going to find this post 15 years from now and put the picture on Facebook.
Is this a top secret recipe for the bake off or will you share?
I want the recipe for the cheese cakes and the cinnimon rolls!!! YummM!!! Seriously...I would love to try them.
