Backyard Oasis

Being as pregnant as I am, and not having a maternity swimsuit, my poor kids have had zero pool time. And, since it has been so hot and I am swelling by the minute, we also have not been spending much time outside. I have realized the need to try to make our home life as fun as possible, since this is where we will be most of this summer. No trips to the beach or vacations planned with this little baby coming. So, last night I went to Wal-Mart and picked up this little pool. The kids were so excited to try it out. Jake, who was very excited about this pool, ended up being a little more timid getting in. Kate, on the other hand, was in there as quick as she could be. Jake finally warmed up to the idea of getting all wet, however he did shed his new swimsuit. I don't know why he didn't like it. He ended up playing in his swim-shirt and swim diaper. They stayed out there for a solid 2 hours. I sat by the pool soaking my feet as long as I could, but the heat was still getting to me. I ended up sitting by the window watching from inside the house where it was much cooler.

And for a pregnancy update...today marks my 38th week. Only 7 days to go. This time next week, I will be holding my little girl. The past few days have not been too bad. I have been working and getting things ready. Yesterday, I wore myself out with cleaning, laundry, shopping, and cleaning the car with Stan. This morning I woke up feeling like I had doubled in size. The dr.s tell me to take it easy. Unfortunately, that does not mesh very well with my life. Stan is nice to give me a break here and there when I really need it. All in all, things are going smoothly and knowing that this will all be over in a week helps to get through these last few days.

That pool looks awesome. Water is the only way to make it through the summer with kids. Good luck this last week!

I'm glad Jake liked his car. Gotta like Lighting McQueen.

I saw this very pool at the store the other day, and though how cute it looked. You're a good mom, Laura. I hope your new pool does the trick, giving the kids some fun and you some rest.

Hey, if Jake doesn't wear his bathing suit, that's just less laundry for you :c). It looks like the kids had fun. Take it easy this week...you want to be well rested for that sweet baby girl.
