Fun in Jesup with the Jacobsens

This past Saturday, we packed up the kids and drove 4 1/2 hours down to Jesup, GA to visit some old friends. The Jacobsens are friends of ours from when we lived in Newnan. They now live in Jesup with five acres and a horse. This is Stan with Jake and Ed Jacobsen (holding Kate). I never knew how much Ed loves babies. He was so cute with Kate.
The Jacobens were having a big get together. It was a homecoming/farewell party. Ed just got home from Iraq. He has been there for over a year and this was his second deployment. It was a farewell for their daughter Amanda who is about to leave on the 18th for her mission to Brazil. I was her laurel advisor way back when we first moved to Newnan. Their family is about to move again in May. They are headed west to California, to the LA area. We couldn't pass up this chance to visit them when we don't know when they will back this way again. We spent the night with them and went to church to hear Amanda's farewell talk. We had a great time. This little trip was a test run for our week long trip coming up this week. We leave Wednesday for Vegas and St. George. Till then I am busy packing and cleaning. I will post about our trip when we return.

Cool family, those Jacobsens. Have fun in Las Vegas. Strike it rich, baby. I know you'll be smuggling your kids into all the casinos.

A head-banging guitar player, a crazy cowboy and now a gambler....

What else do we not know about Stan???

Your weekend sounded fun. Did Jake like the horse? I hope you have a great time in Vegas and St. George.

Yes, Jake went crazy for the horses. There were two there. We had to remind him to walk slowly around them, esp. since the other horse there was pretty young and not broken yet.
