Life Changing

I don't know how many of you are like me and do the hair cutting for your family. I do it so that I don't feel bad for spending money on a decent haircut for myself. I have cut Stan's and Jake's hair for some time now. (I have yet to touch Kate's hair, but she probably needs something soon. It is a bit out of control.) I have no problem cutting Stan's hair, but there are few things in life that I dread more than having to cut Jake's hair. He is beyond impossible and it is a fight the whole time. It ends with me being completely frustrated and him with a cruddy haircut. To give you a little more insight, I am going to share a little about Jake's last haircut.

Imagaine if you will: I put Jake in a chair, drape him with a cover, and get the clippers to buzz his hair. He fights, squirms, covers his head, and swats the clippers away, all while screaming. I try to do my best to cut his hair, but suddenly Jake is gagging because there is hair in his mouth (b/c he's been screaming). His gagging gets so bad that he then throws up. I rush him to the sink and get him (and everything else) cleaned up. I proceed to finish his haircut, when this whole ordeal happens for a second time. Yuck! He ended up in the bath. He was mad and I was too. What a mess! Haircuts are far from our best bonding time.

Ok, so this leads me to my fabulous experience that I had today. I am watching my good friend, Wendy's, little boy. I called her this morning and asked if I could borrow her Flowbee. The Flowbee is a haircutting device that you hook up to the vacuum and it sucks and cuts at the same time. I gave it a try with Jake. Surprisingly, he was still, I did not have to drape him with a cover, he did not fight me, and there was no mess (b/c the vacuum sucks up all the hair!) His only complaint was that is was loud. It was not the huge deal that it usually is. The Flowbee retails for about $70, but I think that I will be investing in one soon. It will more than pay for itself over time. I hope that no one else goes through what I do in order to cut their kids' hair, but if you do, I highly recommend this product. Even if you have an easy time, it makes it so there is no clean up. Here is a picture of Jake's haircut from today. This is as short as the Flowbee will cut. It does a very good job of making a nice even cut. It was such a relief to be able to get this normally dreaded task done with no horrible incidents. I am as stress free as ever after having to cut Jake's hair. Thank you Flowbee! (and Wendy for letting me borrow it) This concludes this advertisement.

I cut boys hair as well. I have never heard of that, but wish I would have when Fox went through that stage of fighting hair cuts. He is doing better now, but I know how frustrating and mad you can get during a hair cut.

We need to start a Flowbee Fan Club! Symony convinced me to get one, and it was a great purchase for sure. Glad Jake didn't gag and throw up during this haircut. He looks so cute!
